Whether you work in industry, for a government agency or in academia, January is always a busy month for transportation professionals. We were thrilled to attend the conference this year and catch up with colleagues around the world, from George Mason University, from Waymo and NHTSA. Self-driving sessions were standing room only so research is alive and well.
We spotted a few driving simulators, most of them used for research and exchanged tips. The National Highway Institute shared a VR application they are using to teach professionals how to repair bridges. We also enjoyed the evening social events with our friends from the Safety21 UTC or the Driver Safety Research Institute hosted by the University of Iowa. We look forward to next year’s conference when we can be one of the many exhibitors.
